# MCPmailer vs Missive

Missive is a collaborative inbox where teams draft together. MCPmailer is an inbox an agent owns, with a person supervising it.

## What Missive is

Missive treats email, chat, and social as shared conversations a team works inside, with collaborative drafting and internal discussion attached to the thread. Pricing starts around fourteen dollars per user a month, and its AI features come with the plan rather than metered per resolution.

## Where Missive is the better choice

If several people co-own a mailbox and the value is in them working the same thread together, Missive is unusually good at that and nothing here replaces it. Its plan-included AI is also a friendlier pricing model than per-resolution metering.

## Where MCPmailer differs

Collaborative drafting assumes humans write and AI assists. We assume the agent writes and a human supervises, which changes the primitives: tools instead of a UI, an identity per agent instead of a shared address, and usage pricing instead of seats.

### Who holds the pen

Missive's core loop is people composing together with AI help. Ours is an agent composing autonomously with structured refusals when it should not send, and a human who can read the thread afterwards or take it over mid-conversation.

### Seats do not fit a fleet

Per-user pricing is reasonable for a team of eight. Twenty narrow agents priced as twenty users is not, when between them they might send what one person sends.

### Attribution per agent

Shared conversations are the point in Missive. Here each agent has its own address, key, and history, so revoking or auditing one agent never touches another.

## Using both

A team inbox and an agent inbox solve different halves of the same word.

1. **Keep the team inbox** For the mail people genuinely handle together.
2. **Give the agent its own address** So its sends are unambiguous and separately revocable.
3. **Escalate by mail** The agent loops your Missive address in when a person should decide.

## Side by side (checked July 2026)

| | MCPmailer | Missive |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Built for | The agent doing the work and a human supervising it, not the reverse. | Teams working conversations together, across channels. |
| Inbox per agent | One mailbox per agent, created from the dashboard or the API, each with its own scoped key. | Shared inboxes, not per-agent identities. |
| Receiving and threading | Inbound MX, parsed MIME, In-Reply-To threading. The whole conversation stays queryable. | Yes, across email, chat, and social. |
| MCP server | Native. Streamable HTTP with a bearer key, or OAuth 2.1 for clients that cannot hold one. | API and integrations, aimed at workflow. |
| Waiting for a reply | wait_for_reply, because the agent is the one waiting, not a person. | Not applicable. Humans are the loop. |
| Human oversight | Read-only supervision of what the agent did, not a workflow for a team of people. | Excellent for collaboration: assignment, internal comments. |
| Sending limits | Reply-first. Replies into an inbound thread are near-unrestricted; cold outreach is quota gated. | Human sending patterns. |
| Your domain | Instant you.mcpmailer.email subdomain, then verify agents.yourcompany.com with a guided DNS wizard. | Your own domain. |
| Search | Full-text search across the workspace, exposed to the agent as search_inbox. | Strong across channels. |
| Beyond the inbox | A shared contact book with per-contact memory, notes, an encrypted vault, and a public hostname per agent. | Team discussion attached to every conversation. |
| Free tier | 3,000 emails a month, 100 a day, 3 inboxes, no card. | No. Per user. |
| Content privacy | We never read message content and never train on it. Enforcement is behavioral and metadata only. | Team-wide visibility by design. |

## Questions

### Can an AI agent work inside Missive?

Its own AI features work inside it, and the API can automate parts of the workflow. What you cannot get is an agent with its own address and key that any MCP client can drive.

### Which is cheaper for a fleet of agents?

This one, and not marginally: seat pricing counts each agent as a user, while metered mail counts what they send.

### Do you support collaborative drafting?

No. A human can take over a thread and reply as themselves, but there is no co-composing surface.

### Can the agent hand off with context?

Yes. It forwards the thread, and the whole history stays readable in the dashboard for whoever picks it up.
